First application of supported ionic liquid phase (SILP) catalysis for continuous methanol carbonylation

A solid, silica-supported ionic liquid phase rhodium iodide Monsanto-type catalyst system, [BMIM][Rh(CO)2I2]-[BMIM]I-SiO2, exhibits excellent activity and selectivity towards acetyl products in fixed-bed, continuous gas-phase methanol carbonylation.
